Beppe dal 1988 al 2015 non è vissuto in Cina, sia ben chiaro. Beppe è volato avanti e indietro da qui a là e da là a qui. Specifico che non è mai stato pilota d' aereo, quindi sgombriamo il campo da facili commenti tipo " un giorno qui ed uno là ". Passiamo ai fatti.
1988, Aprile 29, Beppe, ormai esperto di Asia ( non Argento ) decide di affrontare l'ignoto. Tutti sapevano di Mao, di comunismo, di Rivoluzione Culturale, di riso e biciclette...Cioè praticamente niente. Abbiamo già appreso alcune cose della Cina ma qui andiamo nel dettaglio di Beppe attore.
Beppe ed un gruppo di turisti arrivano a Pechino, aeroporto antiquato e dimesso,giusto il tempo di prendersi un timbro sul passaporto , salire su un altro aereo ed atterrare a Shanghai, HongQiao. Qui l'impressione è migliore. Albergo. Però, l'agenzia turistica non bada a spese. Alloggio al famoso Peace Hotel, storica immagine della Shanghai anni '30. Ne parleremo al capitolo dedicato a Shanghai.
La famosa Oriental Pearl Tower ancora non esisteva. Quando Beppe lo dice ai giovani cinesi di oggi, loro fanno un " ohohohohoh.." di sorpresa. Per loro Shanghai senza la torre è come un cono gelato senza il gelato.
Beppe ha il piacere di cenare al famoso ristorante del Peace hotel, in un salone reale sorretto la maestose colonne. Roba da Capi di Stato.
Il viaggio è lungo. Aereo a Xian, la città dell' Esercito di Terracotta. Balzo dal 1988DC al 220AC per rivivere il regno del primo imperatore storico della Cina, Qin Shi Huang Di. Per coloro non molto ferrati nella cultura cinese, specifico ( e non lo ripeterò più ) che Qin è il nome della dinastia, Shi Huang il nome di regno dell'imperatore e Di significa semplicemente " imperatore ". Shi Huang si fece costruire una tomba in un luogo protetto da un lato dal fiume, due lati da montagne ed il quarto era verso la pianura. Che fare per proteggerla? Semplice, bastò far costruire circa 12 mila guerrieri in terracotta, a grandezza d'uomo, ovvio, con armi e abiti perfettamente colorati ed appropriati, uno diverso dall'altro, affiancati da cavalli e carri da guerra. Bastarono soli pochi decenni e alcune migliaia di uomini per farli, ma pensate cosa sarebbe oggi Xian senza il suo esercito di terracotta. Va bene, c'è la Pagoda dell' Oca Selvatica e anche quella della Piccola Oca , si sono le Mura della Città, ma senza l'esercito Xian non sarebbe nemmeno nelle guide turistiche.

Da Xian a Guilin, dalla storia alla natura. Guilin è una zona carsica conosciuta in tutto il mondo per le sue montagne dalle forme bizzarre e per il fiume Li che si snoda sinuoso come un serpente tra le rocce. Beppe conosce una Cina diversa, immersa nella agricoltura e nella pesca. La sera , passeggiata lungo le sponde del Li, con molteplici bancarelle dove si espongono statuette, pitture, monili, giade, e " chi più ne ha più ne metta ".
Una ragazza vestita di bianco con ricami floreali si avvicina a Beppe e, in inglese ( oh...la prima persona che parla inglese...) si offre di aiutarlo. Si sorride, si parla, Beppe capisce ora il significato del termine " gallina " ( Ji in cinese ). La sera prima qualcuno aveva chiesto alla nostra guida cinese se vi erano " ragazze non molto morigerate nei costumi tali da accettare particolari richieste di turisti che non avevano con loro mogli e affini " e la risposta, molto dettagliata, fu " NO ", specificando anche che i cinesi le chiamano " galline ". Beppe aveva notato che la ragazza era prima in compagnia di un uomo con un taxi. La mattina dopo la sveglia sarebbe stata molto presto, quindi, " no grazie, è ormai troppo tardi."
Da Guilin volo rapido a Guanzhou, la nostra Canton, la città sul fiume delle perle. Visita alla collina della capra, passaggio in treno a Hong Kong. Attraverso i New Territories Beppe arriva a Kowloon. In traghetto va all'isola di Hong Kong. Indispensabile una salita con la funicolare Peak Tramway al Picco Vittoria ed una visita ad Aberdeen il cui golfo è popolato da miriadi di imbarcazioni-casa dove vivono i più poveri.
Ma sì...ritorniamocene in Italia. La Cina non è poi tanto brutta. Merita di ritornarci ancora almeno una volta...ahahahaha.... Beppe disse quella frase nel 1988. Ancora non sapeva cosa il futuro gli riservava.

From Guilin fly swiftly to Guanzhou, our Canton, the city on the Pearl river. After the visit of the hill of the goat, the train go crossing to Hong Kong.
